Most Orlando removals we’re called about are mature trees close to something: a laurel oak or camphor leaning over the roof, a dead pine above a neighbor’s yard, or a tree that has been cut back on one side for line clearance until it is badly out of balance. On established lots with screened pools, fences and narrow side yards, the removal plan matters as much as the cutting.
Before anything is scheduled, we walk the property with you, decide how each tree comes down and how equipment reaches it, and put the work, cleanup and any stump grinding in a written estimate with one fixed price. Want to keep the tree? See tree trimming and pruning in Orlando, or go back to our Orlando tree service page.

When removal is the right call
- The tree is dead or dying. Dead pines and oaks become brittle and shouldn’t be climbed, so we use a lift or our grapple-saw crane where we can reach them.
- Decay, cracks or a split trunk. Hollows, fungus at the base, or a co-dominant split that is opening up.
- Storm damage that can’t be pruned out. A tree uprooted or leaning after a storm, or a trunk or top that has failed.
- Badly out of balance or in the wrong place. Trees cut heavily on one side, or fast growers pushing into the roof, the pool screen or the foundation.
Not every problem tree needs to come down. Many oaks only need a good prune, and we’ll say so. If you want a formal opinion, our ISA Certified Arborist can assess the tree as a separate paid service. Warning signs of a dangerous tree
Orlando tree removal projects
A few examples of our tree removal work around Orlando.
- Off-balance camphor over the roof
A large multi-stem camphor in front of the home had been cut back on one side for line clearance until it was badly off balance over the roof. We removed it with lift access, ground the stump below grade and hauled away the grindings. An arborist letter was billed separately.
- Dead pine over a neighbor’s yard
A dead yellow pine was growing out over the neighboring property. With the neighbor’s permission, our lift was set up on their side for the removal, and the trunk was cut down to ground level.
- Back-yard trees and a crape myrtle cleared
The owner wanted the trees at the rear of the property gone, along with a crape myrtle beside the house. We removed them with lift access, ground the stumps a few inches below grade and took the grindings away.

Climber, lift or crane?
We choose the method for each tree after seeing the site, not one method for every job.
- Climbing and rigging: for trees equipment can’t reach. Sections are lowered on ropes away from roofs and screens.
- Our CMC 72HD spider lift: a tracked lift for back-yard trees over pools and lanais. It fits through many gates a truck can’t.
- Our Fassi 390 grapple-saw crane: for dead, hazardous and large trees we can reach from the street or driveway. It grips each section, cuts it and sets it down on the ground or the truck, so no one has to climb a weakened tree.
Neighbors, HOAs and service lines
Orlando lots are close together. If a tree stands on the property line, hangs over a neighbor’s yard, or the best access runs through their property, any permission has to be arranged before the crew arrives. We’ll describe the planned work so everyone knows what to expect.
For HOA approval, your written estimate identifies each tree and the work, and certificates of insurance are available upon request. Tell us about overhead service lines at the estimate; work near utility lines may need coordination with the utility and isn’t assumed to be included.
What happens on removal day
- Walk-throughWe reconfirm the plan with you: which trees, where the wood comes down and how equipment gets in.
- ProtectionGround mats where equipment travels, spotters at pools and service lines, and a fence panel taken down and put back if the agreed access needs it.
- Controlled removalSections lowered on ropes, cut from the lift or held by our grapple-saw crane, depending on the tree.
- CleanupDebris handled as your estimate specifies, with beds raked and hard surfaces blown off.
What your written estimate covers
Your estimate lists each tree, how it will be removed, and what happens to the wood, brush and stump. Cleanup and haul-away follow that written scope, so you know before the job what leaves the property and what, if anything, stays.
Estimates for tree removal are free. You get one fixed price in writing before anything is scheduled.
Stumps
Stump grinding can be added to the same quote. We typically grind about 4–12 inches below grade, depending on roots and site conditions, and your estimate says whether the grindings are hauled away or left. Grinding doesn’t remove the whole root system, and some jobs call for a stump cut low instead. Stump grinding details
Permits
Many Orlando mailing addresses are outside City of Orlando limits, in unincorporated Orange County, and HOAs have their own rules. Kevin’s Tree Service can assist with tree removal permit applications when required. Orlando tree permit guide

Orlando tree removal FAQs
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Orlando?
It depends on where your property is and on the tree. Many Orlando mailing addresses are in unincorporated Orange County rather than the City of Orlando, and HOA requirements are separate. Kevin’s Tree Service can assist with tree removal permit applications when required. Arborist assessments and letters are separate paid services.
Can you remove a tree next to my house or pool screen?
Yes. Most of our Orlando removals are close to a roof, lanai, pool screen or fence. We take the tree down in sections and lower or lift the wood with ropes, our spider lift or our grapple-saw crane, depending on the tree and the access.
What if the tree is on or over my neighbor’s property?
Tell us at the estimate. If the tree stands on the line, hangs over a neighbor’s yard, or the best access crosses their property, the necessary permission must be arranged before the crew starts. We can describe the planned work so everyone understands it.
How much does tree removal cost in Orlando?
It depends on the tree’s size and condition, what’s under it, how our equipment can reach it, and the stump and cleanup options you choose. Estimates are free, and you get one fixed price in writing before anything is scheduled.
Is stump grinding included?
Only if it’s on your written estimate. Stump grinding can be added to the same quote, typically about 4–12 inches below grade depending on roots and site conditions, and the estimate says whether the grindings are hauled away.
Do you require a deposit, and are you insured?
No deposits. You don’t pay until the job is 100% complete and you’re satisfied. Kevin’s Tree Service carries general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and certificates of insurance are available upon request.
