Orlando Tree Permits: City Limits vs. Orange County
Inside City of Orlando limits. Removing a tree generally requires a City tree removal permit. The City reviews applications, may schedule an inspection by a City arborist, and may require a replacement tree to be planted after removal. Routine ANSI A300 pruning typically does not need a permit.
Unincorporated Orange County. Not every Orlando mailing address is inside city limits. Many homes with an Orlando address are in unincorporated Orange County, where county rules apply instead.
Risk-based exemption. Under Florida Statute 163.045, qualifying trees on eligible single-family residential properties may be exempt from local government notice, application, permit, approval, fee, mitigation and replanting requirements when a signed onsite tree risk assessment establishes that the tree presents an unacceptable risk under the applicable standards. Our ISA Certified Arborist evaluates each tree individually and provides the appropriate documentation when the requirements are met. Not every tree qualifies.
If a permit is required, we can assist with the application process. HOA requirements are separate and may still apply; we can coordinate with your HOA and provide insurance certificates on request. Certified arborist assessments and letters are paid services, with pricing included in your written estimate.
