- Eight oaks trimmed, one live oak removed
Eight oaks along the back property line had grown low and dense, and one live oak by the fence was pushing into the house. From the lift we elevated, thinned and removed deadwood from all eight, then removed the live oak, ground its stump and hauled the grindings.
RemovalTrimmingStump grinding - Driveway oak raised, five queen palms cleaned
An oak beside the driveway had low limbs, old stub cuts and lower leads tangled with the front palms, and five queen palms needed seed pods and old fronds removed. From the lift we raised and balanced the oak, cleaned up the stub cuts, cleared its leads away from the palms and trimmed all five palms.
TrimmingPalm trimming - Two live oaks, a Drake elm and a sabal palm
Two backyard live oaks and a front-yard Drake elm hung over the roof and were thick with sucker growth, and a sabal palm grew under one of the oaks. A climber raised the limbs off the roof, thinned the centers, removed dead branches 2 inches and larger, took a hanging dead branch out of the elm and trimmed the palm.
TrimmingPalm trimming - Fallen oak leader cleared, oak and palm pruned
A large leader had fallen out of a backyard oak, the same tree still carried big deadwood and old broken limbs, and a front palm had fronds drooping low. We cut up and hauled the fallen leader, pruned the oak from the lift and cleaned up the palm.
TrimmingStorm cleanupPalm trimming - Neighbor’s oaks pruned, maple raised over the patio
Two of the neighbor’s oaks were crowding the back yard and house, a maple hung low over the brick patio, and a broken maple leader lay behind the back fence. We pruned the oaks back for clearance from the lift, had a climber raise the maple off the patio and house, and cleaned up the fallen leader.
TrimmingStorm cleanup - Oak off the roof, palm boots cut for a fence repair
A live oak reached over the roof and the neighbor’s side, the palm beside it had boots blocking a fence post, a laurel oak hung over the back fence and a front-yard arborvitae needed a light lift. We removed the oak limbs by lift, trimmed the palm and cut its boots back so the fence could be reattached, took two low laurel oak limbs off with a pole saw and raised the arborvitae.

What we see on Sanford properties
Sanford’s older neighborhoods, from the historic district to Mayfair and Idyllwilde, have some of the biggest live oaks and laurel oaks in Seminole County, often planted close to the street and to older homes.
Big, old oaks over roofs and streets need careful clearance pruning, and aging laurel oaks are a common removal. Our ISA Certified Arborist checks a tree before we recommend taking it down, and many old oaks only need a good prune.
Our crews prune to ANSI A300 standards: no topping, no lion-tailing and no stripping out the interior of the canopy. Sanford is part of our regular routes between Lake Mary, Winter Springs and Longwood.
Neighborhoods we work in

Permits
Tree rules differ between the City of Sanford, unincorporated Seminole County and HOAs, so we’ll help you check what applies to your property. Kevin’s Tree Service can assist with tree removal permit applications when required.
ISA Certified Arborist Oversight
Our ISA Certified Arborist reviews hazard trees, keep-or-remove decisions and pruning plans. Estimates for ordinary tree work are free. A formal arborist assessment or letter, for example to document a dangerous tree, is a separate paid service.

Equipment that fits the yard
We own the equipment most Sanford jobs need, so we plan the right setup for your property instead of waiting on rentals.
- Fassi 390 grapple-saw crane. Grips a section, cuts it and sets it down where we choose, so less climbing in dead or damaged trees and less rigging over fences.
- CMC 72HD spider lift. A tracked lift that fits through many backyard gates to reach oaks over pools, lanais and roofs.
- Chippers, loader and stump grinders. Brush is chipped on site, logs carried out without dragging them across the lawn, and stumps ground below grade.
For trees too large or too far from the street for our crane, we hire a larger crane and include it in your quote.
What tree work costs
Every job gets a free written quote with one fixed price. What moves the price most is the tree’s size and condition, what’s underneath it (roof, pool, power lines), how we get equipment to it, and whether stump grinding is included.
Typical price ranges from our job records: Tree removal cost guide · Tree trimming cost guide · Financing for jobs over $500

Sanford tree service questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Sanford?
It depends on where your property is and on the tree. Tree rules differ between the City of Sanford, unincorporated Seminole County and HOAs, so we’ll help you check what applies to your property. Kevin’s Tree Service can assist with tree removal permit applications when required. Certain trees on eligible single-family residential properties may qualify for an exemption under Florida Statute 163.045. Not every tree qualifies, and HOA requirements are separate. Professional arborist assessments and letters are separate paid services.
Are estimates free?
Yes. Estimates for ordinary tree work like removal, trimming and stump grinding are free, and you get one fixed price in writing. Formal arborist assessments and letters are a separate paid service.
What if a tree falls at night or on a weekend?
Call us. Phones are answered 24/7, and we dispatch a crew as availability, weather and safety allow. If anyone is hurt or a tree is on a power line, call 911 and the power company first.
Can you prune a very large old oak without hurting it?
Yes. On big old oaks we take out deadwood, lift limbs off roofs and the street, and shorten heavy ends back to smaller branches a little at a time, following ANSI A300 pruning standards. We don’t top or strip the canopy.
How often should oaks in Sanford be trimmed?
Mature live oaks often do well on a 2–3 year pruning cycle. Laurel oaks, which are shorter-lived and more prone to decay, and any tree hanging over a roof may need a look more often.
What’s included in your cleanup?
Brush is chipped and hauled away, wood is removed, and hard surfaces are raked and blown. When stump grinding is part of the job, grindings are hauled away unless you ask us to leave them for your beds.
Are you insured?
Yes. Kevin’s Tree Service carries general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Certificates of insurance are available upon request.
